ROB ZOMBIE, ALICE COOPER, MURDERDOLLS To Tour Together In The Fall
July 21, 2010"Metal Zone" host Nikki Blakk of the San Francisco, California radio station 107.7 The Bone conducted an interview with drummer/guitarist Joey Jordison (SLIPKNOT, MURDERDOLLS, ROB ZOMBIE) on July 11, 2010 at the Mountain View, California stop of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Watch the chat in two parts below. A couple of excerpts follow.
Q: What was it like working with Al Jourgensen [MINISTRY]?
Joey: Amazing. And actually I'm working with him again in the fall. Actually, not the fall — early next year. . . I just talked to Al the other day and we're gonna do something. I'm not sure if he's got a name for the project or if it's just gonna be a solo record, but it's gonna be the fastest thing that he's ever done, and it'll probably actually push me a little bit more, so it's gonna be interesting.
Q: So it's not gonna be a MINISTRY project?
Joey: It might turn into that; I don't know. We're just gonna write and it's coming out on 13th Planet [Jorgensen's record label], but that'll be next year.
Q: So you've actually already got the next year, pretty much, planned out.
Joey: Yeah, I've got the rest of this Mayhem tour with ZOMBIE, then I've got Ozzfest [dates with MURDERDOLLS], a couple of Ozzfests, and some solo [MURDERDOLS] shows over in Europe, come back, and then the fall is gonna be [a package tour featuring] MURDERDOLLS, ALICE COOPER [and] ROB ZOMBIE for the fall run, which is Gruesome... Well, it's not the Gruesome Twosome tour now, since the MURDERDOLLS [is gonna be part of the package]. So I'm [pulling double duty] during the fall [tour playing with both MURDERDOLLS and ROB ZOMBIE]. Then after that, November [will be] MURDERDOLLS [in] Europe, then — I think; I'm not totally sure — there might be some ZOMBIE stuff in December. Then after that's MURDERDOLLS all next year, besides the studio stuff with Al, and then we'll see where I'm at at that point.
Q: Isn't it weird for you to have the next year and a half year of your life just mapped?
Joey: Sometimes it's a little weird. Sometimes I sit back and I'm, like, "Man, have I completely lost my mind?" I mean, like, all the way? And sometimes I'm, like, I might have. But it's all I know. I mean, that's what I was put here for.
First **unconfirmed** "Halloween Hootenanny" tour dates featuring ROB ZOMBIE, ALICE COOPER and MURDERDOLLS:
Sep. 30 - Gibson Amphitheatre - Universal City, CA
Oct. 02 - AVA Amphitheater - Tucson, AZ
Jordison made his live debut as a member of Rob Zombie's touring band on April 8 at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles.
Joey sat behind the kit for the "Gruesome Twosome" tour, which featured Zombie along with his longtime pal, Alice Cooper.
Rob Zombie headed into the studio earlier this month to record four new songs with his touring band, which includes Jordison. Zombie wrote that the new material is "some of the fastest and heaviest tracks we have recorded in a long, long time." The new music will be available in September, although Zombie did not say how it will be released.
